The workshop features a PowerPoint talk on five basic plant families that have influenced cultures worldwide. The event is held at Bay Oaks Home, a historic retirement village located in Edgewater. The home is run by a nonprofit trust that seven society matrons established more than a half-century ago. Bay Oaks is a throwback to gentler times when old people were a family's treasure, not a burden to be warehoused and forgotten – an oasis of tranquility.
